गुंडा

A hedonistic ‘aashiq’ turned qawal exploring the depths of heartache, ‘Allah Rakha’ is the internal monologue of Tanmay Saxena’s psychosis and ‘Gunda’ is its manifestation. An album that can make you dance through heartbreak, ‘Gunda’ is the ‘aashiq‘ and ‘qawal‘ hidden in every one of us.

The eloquence with which Gunda recalls his first love, is inspired by the vivid romance of classic Bollywood films. The cycle of emotions that constitutes a heartbreak is echoed with a curt bleakness, almost touching on nihilism. Saxena’s ‘Gunda’ is a personification of nostalgia for an experience that inspired the character  as well as the storytelling on the album.

कौन है गुंडा

An artist with multiple phases and faces, Tanmay Saxena, has noticeably created a body of work that has stood out from the trends of the industry. Now donning the mask of ‘Gunda’, Saxena has created a new aural experience that flows between sardonic and careless abandon, resulting in an unusual mix of songwriting that takes inspiration from qawali and house music.
